The Rose Garden for your wedding
On the exact spot of the former tithe barn, whose walls remain, lies the rose garden. The fascination for walled gardens has its origins in medieval times. The trellising in the barrel vault gallery has disappeared beneath the wisteria.
Box trees and the bower set the scene within a verdant theatre, sculpting the landscape. Throughout the year, dazzling, dizzying, ephemeral players take the stage
They blossom in sweet succession, some never meeting, some flirting, some hoping.
They harbour the colours and fragrances of the lily, fig tree, dog-rose and clematis, of lavender, laurel, honeysuckle, jasmine and hollyhock, of Damascus, Cyprus and Marrakech. Vines snake through the tracery beneath the conniving gaze of Bacchus. Sparkling, crystalline water spurts from his mouth and flows from pond to pond. From time to time, this garden draws a blessing from a God, for two of Earth's children united in his name.
